Ivo joined K2 as an intern in London in February 2018 in the Talent Acquisition team. This opportunity allowed him to gain valuable experience working for a global company and an insight into the world of recruitment. He was also able to benefit from K2’s learning and development program.
Having excelled during his internship, Ivo was invited to join the EMEA Talent Acquisition team as a permanent employee. After a successful period in this role, he recently made the decision to become a Technical Recruiter. Read on to find out more about his professional development at K2 since transitioning from intern to recruiter.
Tell us about your new role:
As a Technical Recruiter, I’m lucky to be working almost exclusively on our biggest account in Europe. This means I’m working on a variety of different roles across Europe, with some in the Middle East and Africa, and some of the most innovative business technologies such as SAP, virtual reality, and IoT.
How has your previous role helped you succeed in your new role?
My previous role in K2’s Talent Acquisition team gave me an incredible platform for my move into the agency side of the business.
I was inspired to really take the time to understand and listen to each individual I speak with. It’s great when we regularly receive comments from candidates who thank us for being different and making them feel valued.
What aspects of the role are you enjoying the most?
Firstly, I’m enjoying that I constantly get to interact with leaders in different fields and learn from their experience.
This not only goes for the team around me. I‘m lucky to have joined such a diverse team. They’re a pleasure to work with every day and are some of the most hard-working, trustworthy and supportive people I have come across!
So what’s next for you?
My plan is to work hard and continue to learn every day. When I’m ready, I hope to move into a sales/business development position. I then plan to move into a mentor role and help with colleagues’ professional development.
If you’re thinking of a career in recruitment, Ivo has this advice:
Preparation is key when starting a new role, so make sure you do as much research as possible into information such as a typical working day, expectations and how to ensure career progression.
Try and speak to as many people who are already in the industry by attending networking events or contacting people via LinkedIn. Ask questions and make sure you have a clear understanding of what the role will involve.
