I have been writing a series of tips for IT professionals on how they can boost their careers by adjusting their skill-sets based on market trends. This week I examine why there has never been a better time to move into Salesforce consulting.
Through working with many Salesforce professionals, I have been impressed by the stories. Every consultant I’ve worked with who has moved into Salesforce consulting has been impressed by the platform’s ability to adjust to customer’s needs faster and more efficiently than other platforms.
The enterprise software market can evolve fast, so to stay relevant, it is crucial for all IT professionals to understand where the market is moving.
Here are three reasons why I believe now is a great time for on-premise CRM consultants to move into Salesforce:
1. Salesforce offers a great community that can support you through your successful learning journey!
The Salesforce Success Community has over a million members and it is constantly growing. The community allows you to network online or meetup with the local groups which can help you find jobs, or provide you valuable tips to kick off your Salesforce career. You can tap into advice and expertise that will make learning a new platform easier. It’s important what you know, but WHO you know can also help with your career growth and increase your marketability and presence.
2. You can get hands-on practice for free!
If you plan to get certified as an Admin, you can access the free “Admin Playground” and get hands-on practice experience with the application. Free training will help you familiarize yourself to Salesforce and provide an excellent resource, but if you decide to move into the Salesforce space and want to get certified, you will need to take official Salesforce classroom training. Make sure you prove your expertise by taking a certification.
3. Nearly 2 million new jobs will be created in the Salesforce ecosystem by 2020
According to research from IDC, Salesforce will create 1.9 million new jobs by 2020 and indirectly will enable the creation of a further 2.8 million jobs. Salesforce currently enjoys 40% market share in the Cloud CRM space and has aggressive growth plans. Demand is already high for certified Salesforce professionals and as the customer base is growing rapidly you have excellent opportunities not only working for a consulting partner but also working with 3rd-party App Exchange providers.
