Mexico OfficeI recently had the opportunity to work out of K2 Mexico’s office for one week thanks to three deals/placements I made in Mexico. I started working at K2 San Francisco as a recruiter with very limited IT knowledge around 6 months ago. With K2’s support I was able to rapidly expand my knowledge and network within the SAP and Oracle ERP space.

I had one of the consultants within my network reach out and ask for assistance to join one of SAP Mexico’s projects. Thanks to our interregional collaboration we were able to place him and a team of engineers in Mexico City.

Within a few weeks of these consultants starting work on their project, K2 flew me out to our Mexico office. Working over there for a whole week was an exciting and memorable experience, not only for the opportunity to work in a different setting but also to be able to explore a new city I had never been to before. I was out of my comfort zone and exposed to a different working environment and culture.

I have the advantage of speaking fluent Spanish, and was able to easily communicate and get around without a problem. Everyone in the office was very welcoming and accepting, they went out of their way to make sure my stay was as pleasant and comforting as possible. Going out to local restaurants, sightseeing historical monuments, and enjoying one of the world’s biggest city’s night life.

I also met one of my consultants onsite in Mexico City. It was an interesting experience to meet a consultant whom I had only been in contact with for the past few months via email and phone.

My long-term passion is to continue working with different cultures/environments and K2 has been a great support, opening many doors along the way. I look forward to repeating interregional collaborations and some day in the near future take part in K2’s Foreign Exchange Program.
