The Salesforce Summer release is one of the biggest events of the year for the Salesforce community, with each release bringing a host of new features and updates to the Customer 360 Product suite. In this article, we will examine some of the new changes Salesforce is delivering across its products.
First off is the ability to access the desktop version of Lightning Experience through Safari on iPads. This feature is useful for those who lack an extra screen or like to check things while on the go.
Next are changes to the user interface of Salesforce allowing you to utilise a split view when you want to look at a list and an individual record at the same time. Rather than having to navigate between the record and then back to the list. However, the split view only works for objects that are on the navigation bar, you will need to ensure that the object is added as a navigation item on the navigation bar.
To help in the transition to Lightning Experience, Salesforce has released a host of tools to aid organizations during the move. One such tool is the Optimizer App, which will interactively recommend expert advice to maintain your Salesforce implementation. The Optimizer App does not need to be installed and can simply be enabled on your org. From there it will identify issues with implementation and provide sorted lists of recommended advice on how to fix the problems.
In response to many organizations moving the majority of their workforce to remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic, Salesforce has stepped up to help distant teams collaborate through the new Salesforce Anywhere beta version. Salesforce Anywhere allows users to get customized alerts about changes to data as well as a chat function within the platform itself. A mobile app lets users access information from any location.
Further improvements have been made to Salesforce Surveys, enabling more options for question types, new ways to share invitations, increased personalization of survey fields and more. This allows for a much more complete picture of customer lifecycles to be built using the tools.
Another sphere that will see improvements in the release is Lightning Scheduler, with automated resource assignments making it easier to schedule appointments. Appointments can be anonymized to protect user-information while additional flexibility has been added to rescheduling options if resources become unavailable. Additional changes include increased options for timezones, ensuring that users see the appropriate times and dates, as well as kilometres, are now available as a unit of measurement.
Finding information will now become much easier with Einstein Search becoming available at no extra cost. By using natural language search, users can find records more efficiently. More objects are also searchable in Financial Services Cloud and Health Cloud.
There are many more changes and new features in the Salesforce Summer ‘20 Release. This update is timely due to many of the features being extremely useful to organizations that have transitioned to remote working environments. The ability for teams to process more information on the go, while having extensive collaboration tools will work wonders for geographically distant teams. Meanwhile, as more organizations transition to Lightning, the release of Optimizer App will aid in ensuring that the process can be as painless as possible.
