Our client is currently looking for an external Microsoft Purview Engineer with experience configuring, integrating and running Microsoft Purview as the core data governance and metadata platform, with strong links into Microsoft Fabric and the wider data estate. They keep the catalogue, glossary and lineage usable for real people, not just technically “correct”.
Key requirements
– Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and Azure, including collections, scans, security and role-based access.
– Understanding of Microsoft Fabric (Workspaces, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines) and how metadata and lineage flow into Purview.
– Ability to set up and maintain a usable data catalogue and enterprise business glossary, including standards, naming conventions and ownership models.
– Experience defining and running basic data quality checks and monitoring, ideally integrated with Fabric or adjacent tooling.
– Comfortable working with APIs, automation and CI/CD to integrate Purview with source systems, Fabric and other governance tools.
– Able to support data champions, data custodians, data domain owners with training, guidance and light governance administration (approvals, term changes, access requests).
– Familiarity with conceptual or canonical data models and how to align Purview assets and glossary terms to those models as the source of truth
