Read our interview with Sharma below.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a result-oriented leader with a rare combination of business, technical, project and vendor management skills. I have a vast amount of experience shaping SAP application portfolio and strategy working closely with the business leaders determining solution alternatives for given business challenges.
For the past 3 years, I have lead and delivered Hybris Billing solutions E2E for various clients. I also have 10+ years experience in SAP CRM/ECC O2C and 6+ years implementing and managing e-commerce solutions.
I am based out of the Windy City Chicago, Illinois in the US.
What was your most recent K2 project?
My last two projects with K2 were for SAP Hybris Billing / BRIM implementation.
The first one was an E2E implementation from offer to cash implementation which included SAP CRM SOM, CC, CI and FICA landscape and Integration to the external non-sap portal for a telco company. Main challenges there were the integration to external portal from SAP CRM SOM, ECC FICA and SAP CC. Also, integration to the TV and phone platforms was done and the challenge was to test this entire landscape E2E with real devices (3 TV’s and 5 phone lines for residential customers). Another challenge was to fine tune the SAP PI, ECC and CC to meet the requirements of the concurrency test. Additionally, I had to work with the SAP product team on implementing the failover mechanism between SAP CRM SOM, ECC and CC.
The second project involved a security service industry. As part of the SAP max attention team I was involved in the E2E assessment and tasked to support the SAP management in streamlining the findings and present to the client management. We were successful in helping the business to understand the findings and consider the next actions. Based on the assessment, I was involved in working with the SAP team in resolving the issues and in testing them. We accomplished this successfully, in time and on budget.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The part I enjoy most about my job is the various challenges we encounter in all phases of the project implementation. I like the fact that what we do as part of the consulting engagement impacts the customer in many ways. I like that I can work closely with the customer to lead the project and ensure they are comfortable with our proposals. Also, that our proposals impact the customer’s business processes and leads to business transformation.
I also enjoy the feeling at the end of an assignment when the end customer and consulting partners are comfortable with the value provided and can see real gains in the project ROI. This gives me a real sense of accomplishment and joy for the job well done.
Which technical development do you think will have the biggest impact on your field over the next few years?
What advice would you give to someone starting out as a freelance IT consultant?
Be true to yourself, be a leader and to always put the end customer first. Focus on your deliverables and make sure your contributions are visible to the end client and partner management.
From a technical perspective make sure you are aware of the new developments in your area of expertise and always think outside the box when implementing to third party applications.
