Each month we recognise a K2 consultant who has received outstanding client feedback on their recent project.
This month the K2 Consultant of the Month is David Jiménez Pimentel, an SAP Functional Consultant. Read our interview with David below.
Tell us a bit about yourself, e.g. Which technologies do you specialise in? How long you have been working as a consultant? Where you are based?
I’m a Consultant with more than 15 years of experience. I’m a Technology Integrator Specialist and with expertise in Business Intelligence, in particular, SAP Business Objects in the complete Data Warehouse cycle (Data Services, Universes Designer, WEBI, Crystal Reports SAP LUMIRA, SAP Design Studio, SAP MII, SAP BW). I’m based in Monterrey Nuevo Leon in Mexico.
Tell us more about your most recent K2 project. What was being implemented, what were the technical challenges, how were they overcome etc?
The biggest test I came across was in the development of a board in Design Studio. The project was very delayed, so the challenge was time constraints more than technical complexity. By applying a good analysis, design and agile development techniques, the project was delivered in time.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy meeting different people, encountering different organisational models and solving the challenges that each project represents.
Which technical development do you think will have the biggest impact on your field or the wider world of IT over the next couple of years?
Machine learning with Big Data- it will free us from the reporting tasks that the AI will do for us. It will give us time to put extra work into good modeling in our data warehouse, returning to the DWH bases.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting out as a freelance IT consultant?
Always take the role of facilitator between the tool and the client and always realistically define the scope of the project to get the best result in the fastest time. It’s also important to always maintain a spirit of pursuing knowledge and learning.
