This week we talked to Nivetha Devi, Senior Sales Associate at K2’s office in Singapore.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’ve been working in recruitment for almost 10 years now, first with a few brief stints with a couple of other major recruitment companies then joining K2 in 2016.
At K2, I work as an IT recruitment consultant covering a variety of different sectors. IT recruitment has been the foundation of my career and through its challenges, has helped me to grow from a beginner to an expertise in understanding the tangible requirements of my clients. I always work to the belief that I can contribute to the growth of my client’s organization by placing right candidates at the right level.
What do you do when you arrive at the office in morning and how do you set yourself up for the day?
My work tends to start before I get to K2 as I like to plan for the day ahead during my morning commute to the office. I generally recollect the to-do list at the back of my mind which helps me to kick start the moment I arrive at my office. I check to see if there are any responses need to emails, LinkedIn messages and I also check our K2’s internal communication platform, Salesforce Chatter to see whats been happening across all the K2 offices. When things are a bit quieter during the day, I like to keep myself updated on the latest trends of the market, read latest technology news and research potential leads.

What are some of your daily highlights, what do you enjoy most in your day?
I enjoy being able to give my best to value-add to my organization by signing up new clients and closing the maximum number of deals. I enjoy meeting new people with diverse opinions, new faces help to motivate me and see the same situation in a different and brand new perspective altogether. Also, I enjoy building on the me yesterday to who I can be tomorrow – always challenging and upgrading myself everyday.

How do you wrap up your work at the end of the day?
Wrapping up for the day is like putting an end to the story of the day as I like to review and look back at all the efforts I’ve put in. I usually wrap things up by jotting down appointments and other to-dos in the diary for the next day; this includes business development calls, client and candidate follow ups etc.
Then finally, that final goodbye to my fellow colleagues with a smile on my face is the icing on the cake to the day! Being out of the office brings out another side to me. I like to spend quality time with family and catch up with friends over dinner. These casual conversations help put me at ease and rejuvenate me so I am fresh and ready for the next day of work at K2.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learnt working at K2?
The mantra I tend to live by at K2 is that: “smart work with perseverance leads to success faster than the hard work” and having great colleagues and mentors at K2 are the catalysts to it.
