Each month we recognise a K2 consultant who has received outstanding client feedback on their recent project.
This month the K2 Consultant of the Month is Kasey Hughes, an SAP Consultant based in the US.
Read our interview with Kasey below.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My core skill set is an SAP FICO Consultant, but in my 20 years of SAP consultant, I have also held Architect, Project and Integration mgt. roles. I have also configured sales and purchasing functionality in SAP. I recently relocated to Atlanta.
What was your most recent K2 project?
My most recent K2 project was for Panasonic Automotive and PwC. Ironically, the most difficult part of the project was not technical at all. It was the soft stuff – people. There were lots of competing motivations that had to be ‘managed’.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love solving problems. SAP is great because the software is robust enough to handle most customer requirements, but frequently, you have to be creative and use functionality a little non-traditionally to help customers avoid custom development. I like finding those non-traditional solutions.
Which technical development do you think will have the biggest impact on your field over the next few years?
What advice would you give to someone who is starting out as a freelance IT consultant?
First, have your personal finances in order because everything is more expensive. Second, recognize that you own the relationship with everyone…the customer, the consulting partner, the staffing firm, and other consultants. If you don’t manage every relationship, you won’t survive.
