Consultant of the MonthEach month we recognise a K2 consultant who has received outstanding client feedback on their recent project.

This month the K2 Consultant of the Month is Ajay Singh, a Cloud Subscription Billing Consultant. Read our interview with him below.

Tell us a bit about yourself, for example, which technologies do you specialise in? How long you have been working as a consultant? Where are you based?

I have been independently working as a Cloud Subscription-Billing consultant for the last four years. I have over 16 years of IT experience.

I specialise in Oracle ERP, Salesforce Cloud and Zuora subscription billing cloud platforms. I started my career as a Software Engineer and have experience with Oracle ERP (Supply Chain, Procurement and Finance domain), Oracle database, Salesforce and middleware integration tool (TIBCO, Mulesoft). Most recently I worked with big technology companies like Fujitsu, CISCO, vmWare, Symantec, QLIK and SalesForce.

Tell us a little about your most recent K2 project. What was being implemented, what were the technical challenges, how were they overcome etc?

My most recent project enabled a subscription billing cloud platform using Salesforce, Zuora and NetSuite for customer billing. I used Dell Boomi for integration between Zuora, Salesforce and Netsuite. It was a challenging project, with everyone in the team working in tandem to accomplish the end goal. I am glad and fortunate to be a part of the team.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoyed being part of a fully dedicated team, where everyone supported each other and truly created a fun-loving environment.
I met many different people who were highly-skilled in technology with their own classes.

Which technical development do you think will have the biggest impact on your field or the wider world of IT over the next couple of years?

Artificial intelligence and machine learning will have a greater impact on how we learn, analyse and process data. Due to rapid globalisation and easily access to tons of consumer data, data science will play a major role in the forthcoming decade. The most significant impact of AI will be around measuring effectiveness.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting out as a freelance IT consultant?

Always keep an eye on the opportunity and grab it. Take time to understand the people and the sequence of processes. Be proactive and make logical conclusions. You will achieve success.
